ARTHROPODA
-The Arthropoda is a phylum consisting of invertebrate animals with an external skeleton and a segmented body
-They are mostly made of insects, arachnids, and crustaceans.
-The three animals that represent phylum arthropoda are crabs, millipedes, and scorpions.

Crab
Crabs use gills which are outgrowths of the skin covered by the exoskeleton. Their gills are on the outside of the body, located between the carapace and body wall. They are also connected to the legs of the crab as well. Crabs are special arthropods because it has a small pocket within itself where it stores water when it needs it which is part of the reason why it can breathe on land.
MILLIPEDE
Millipedes and many other diplopoda have a system of trachea, which carry oxygen to all the cells, and carbon dioxide away from all the cells. They are connected by spiracles. Respiration occurs by a process called diffusion, while the millipede is at rest. Although their blood contains no hemoglobin, a molecule called cytochrome enhances the gas exchange throughout the body. This allows them to live in high concentrated carbon dioxide conditions.
Scorpion
Scorpions or terrestrial arthropods posses book lungs and tracheae as respiratory organs. The book Lungs are in the cavities of the abdomen. The air enters the cavities then, oxygen passes through the blood of the scorpion. This allows the scorpion to breathe and carry out everyday functions.
